The ATV6B0C11Q6: The 110 kW at 690 V normal duty and 90 kW at 690 V heavy duty ratings are what you size the drive against. Normal duty covers constant-torque loads like conveyors; heavy duty handles the higher peak demands of crushers or extruders. The line current at 690 V is 102 A normal duty, 85 A heavy duty — these are the numbers for sizing input fusing and cabling. The integrated EMC filter is rated for 984.3 ft (300 m) of motor cable under IEC 61800-3 category C3. That means you can run cable lengths up to 300 m without an external filter in a typical industrial environment — saves panel space and installation time. That's a functional safety requirement for many machine safety circuits — it lets you remove torque without a power disconnect, which is useful for clearing jams or during setup. Prospective line short-circuit current rating is 50 kA. That's the fault current the drive can withstand on its input — important for coordination with upstream protection in high-capacity panels.
The drive has a Slot A for communication modules — you can fit Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, or CANopen (with RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminal options). Slot A and Slot B also accept digital/analog I/O extension modules and output relay extension modules. That means you can field-fit the exact fieldbus and I/O count without swapping the whole drive. Built-in Modbus serial at 4.8, 9.6, 19.2, 38.4 kbit/s and Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP at 10/100 Mbit/s. The Ethernet port supports half/full duplex and autonegotiation. For Modbus RTU, the physical interface is 2-wire RS-485, configurable 8-bit data with odd, even, or no parity.
Cabinet mount, with UL Type 1 and Type 12 enclosure ratings for cabinet integration. That covers indoor use where you need some protection from falling dirt and dripping water (Type 1) or from dust and non-corrosive liquids (Type 12). Forced convection cooling — keep the airflow paths clear in the panel. Operating altitude is below 2000 m with current derating above 1000 m. If this drive is going into a high-altitude site, factor that into the sizing. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1 — typical for a clean industrial control room. Vibration resistance: 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 2–13 Hz, 0.5 gn at 13–200 Hz per IEC 60068-2-6. Shock resistance: 4 gn for 11 ms per IEC 60068-2-27. It'll handle normal industrial floor vibration, but if it's going on a crusher or near a press, check the mounting isolation.
Protection and safety functions
The drive packs a full suite of protections: thermal protection for both motor and drive, safe torque off, motor phase break, overcurrent between output phases and earth, overload of output voltage, short-circuit protection, overvoltages on the DC bus, line supply over/undervoltage, line supply phase loss, and overspeed. That's a lot of coverage — you won't need many external relays for basic motor protection. Braking to standstill is by DC injection — no external braking resistor needed for stopping, though for vertical loads or rapid decel you'd still want the resistor option.
