Drive selection memo — ATV6B0C11T6
This Altivar Process ATV600 drive is sized for a 125 hp induction motor at 600 V normal duty, pulling 102 A line current. Under heavy duty it still delivers 100 hp with 82 A, so it holds up to the steam of a tire curing press where the load profile may demand a safety margin on current. Built as a modular version, it accepts slot A and B option cards for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, or CANopen — the communication layer you need to nail the cure recipe across the line. The integrated EMC filter provides C3 category suppression per IEC 61800-3 for 300 m cable runs; standard compliance includes IEC 61800-5-1, UL 61800-5-1, and functional safety STO SIL3 per IEC 61508. Forced convection cooling and a 5–95% humidity range without condensation make it rated for press temperatures and steam-laden plant air — just keep the cabinet vent clear.
Cabinet integration checklist
Mounting: cabinet mount, UL Type 1 or Type 12 (conforming to UL 61800-5-1). Forced convection requires minimum clearances around the module — refer to the mechanical dimensions from the mounting kit. Electrical connection: line side via screw terminals; motor side via M10 x 2 bars. Control wiring: removable screw terminals accepting 0.5–1.5 mm² / AWG 20–16. Option cards plug into slots A and B; slot A also accepts communication modules, slot A/slot B accept I/O or relay extension. Communication: Modbus serial via 2-wire RS485 at 4.8–38.4 kbit/s RTU, plus Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP at 10/100 Mbit/s autonegotiation. Adjustable switching frequency from 2 to 4.9 kHz; derate above 1000 m altitude.
