Drive for the line
The ATV6B0C80Q6 is the top-end modular version of the Altivar Process ATV600 family, sized for 800 kW normal-duty or 630 kW heavy-duty motor loads on a 690 V supply. This is not a general-purpose drive — it targets process applications where the pump, fan, or compressor draws sustained current at the heavy-duty profile. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 (300 m cable), so it is ready for industrial second-environment installations straight out of the box. Built on a modular kit platform: the kits include the control unit, power module, mechanical mounting hardware, power connection set, fuses, and a front cover. The control unit supports multiple communication protocol options via slot A — Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/IP, CANopen (in three connector variants), plus I/O extension and relay output cards. The integrated RS-485 Modbus serial port handles up to 247 addresses with configurable parity, and the Ethernet port runs at 10/100 Mbit/s with auto-negotiation.
Protection and safety built in
The ATV6B0C80Q6 brings Safe Torque Off (STO) rated to SIL 3 as a standard feature, eliminating the need for an external safety relay in many installations. Thermal protection covers both the motor and the drive, with additional monitoring for motor phase break, output phase-to-earth faults, overcurrent, overload, overvoltage/undervoltage on the DC bus and line supply, line phase loss, overspeed, and control circuit break. The integrated DC injection braking handles stopping without a braking resistor for low-inertia loads. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1 means the drive is rated for a normal industrial environment where only non-conductive pollution occurs. Shock resistance to 4 gn at 11 ms and vibration resistance to 1.5 mm peak-to-peak (2–13 Hz) and 0.5 gn (13–200 Hz) align with IEC 60068-2-27 and IEC 60068-2-6, respectively.
