Drive selection memo: ATV6B0M12Q6
The ATV6B0M12Q6 is a modular Altivar Process ATV600 drive rated for 1200 kW at 690 V normal duty and 1000 kW at 690 V heavy duty, drawing 1078 A line current normal duty and 898 A heavy duty. Apparent power comes to 1288 kVA normal duty, 1073 kVA heavy duty. It drives both synchronous and asynchronous motors, with a switching frequency adjustable from 2 to 4.9 kHz subject to derating. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 for motor cable runs up to 300 m. Lifecycle is active. The drive carries CE marking and complies with IEC 61800-3, 61800-5-1, 61000-3-12, 60721-3, 61508, and 13849-1. STO (safe torque off) is integrated at SIL 3.
Fieldbus slice and safety CPU separation
Slot A accepts communication modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, or CANopen (RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals). Slot A/B also accepts digital/analog I/O extension and output relay extension modules. The native Modbus serial interface is 2-wire RS485, RTU frame, 8-bit data with configurable parity, addresses 1–247, at 4.8–38.4 kbit/s. The Ethernet port runs Modbus TCP at 10/100 Mbit/s with half/full duplex and autonegotiation, slave access. For safety CPU separation, the STO function is built into the drive and does not require an external safety relay for SIL 3 applications. The protection suite covers thermal, motor phase break, overcurrent between output phases and earth, overload, short-circuit, overvoltage/undervoltage on the DC bus and line supply, line supply phase loss, overspeed, and break on the control circuit.
SCCR headroom and coordination
Prospective line short-circuit current rating is 50 kA, which gives headroom for high-fault installations. The drive is cabinet-mount only, with UL Type 1 and Type 12 enclosure ratings per UL 61800-5-1 for cabinet integration. Forced convection cooling handles the thermal load; the operating altitude is below 2000 m with derating above 1000 m. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1. THDI stays under 5% at full load per IEEE 519, which simplifies harmonic filter selection upstream. The supply frequency range is 50–60 Hz ±5%.
Kit composition and wiring
The kit includes one control unit, mechanical mounting kits, power connection set, fuses (6.0), power module 200 kW, and front cover. Electrical connection uses control removable screw terminals 0.5–1.5 mm² (AWG 20–16), line side screw terminal, and motor M10 x 2 bars. Braking to standstill is by DC injection.
