37 kW on 240 V — the power stage
The ATV930D37M3 is a 37.0 kW normal-duty drive fed from a 200–240 V three-phase supply, with a 30.0 kW heavy-duty rating for the same input. At 149 A continuous output (normal duty, 2.5 kHz switching), it handles the full-load current of a 37 kW motor without derating the carrier frequency down to the minimum. The integrated braking chopper means you don't need an external braking module for deceleration loads — the DC bus is already tapped for a resistor. Standard variant with the chopper, not an option card.
Fieldbus, I/O, and control wiring
Communication comes standard with Modbus serial, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP on board. Slot A accepts a Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, or CANopen module — the drive ships with the base ports populated and the slot ready for the network your line runs. Control wiring lands on screw terminals accepting 0.5–1.5 mm² (AWG 20–16). The digital inputs need an external 24 V DC supply (19–30 V range), while the internal 10.5 V DC reference powers a 1–10 kΩ speed pot. The STO (Safe Torque Off) circuit also takes 24 V DC from the internal supply, so the safety loop is self-contained within the drive's own power rail. Motor and line power terminals are sized for 70–120 mm² (AWG 2/0–250 kcmil) on the line side and 95–120 mm² (AWG 3/0–250 kcmil) on the motor side — lug selection matters for the 149 A continuous current.
Enclosure, environment, and compliance
IP21 with UL Type 1 rating — suitable for indoor, non-washdown environments where the drive is wall-mounted vertically (within ±10°). The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 conducted emissions limits with an optional EMC plate for radiated compliance. Rated for pollution degree 2, overvoltage category III, and vibration per IEC 60068-2-6 (1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 2–13 Hz, 1 gn at 13–200 Hz). Shock tested to 15 gn for 11 ms. Operating altitude up to 1000 m without derating; above that, derate 1 % per 100 m to 4800 m. Compliance covers UL 508C, IEC 61800-3 (EMC), IEC 61800-5-1 (safety), IEC 61000-3-12 (harmonics), IEC 61508 (functional safety), and IEC 13849-1 (PL). The THDI is below 48 % from 80–100 % load per IEC 61000-3-12, which helps when sizing upstream transformers and generators.
