The ATV930D75Y6 is a 55.0 kW normal duty / 45.0 kW heavy duty variable speed drive in the Altivar Process ATV900 series, fed from a 500...690 V 3-phase supply. The 83 A nominal output current at 2.5 kHz carrier defines the thermal budget — heavy-duty applications at 66 A continuous leave headroom for overload cycles. It handles both asynchronous and synchronous motors, with an adjustable PID regulator built in for process loops like pump pressure or fan static pressure control. The integrated braking chopper (standard version) means no external braking module is needed for deceleration — just add a resistor sized for the duty cycle.
Fieldbus and I/O — what connects where
Standard communication is Modbus serial, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP on the RJ45 port. Slot A accepts plug-in modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, or CANopen (daisy chain RJ45 or SUB-D 9 or screw terminals) — the drive ships without the module, so order the fieldbus card separately. Slots A, B, and C also accept digital/analog I/O extension modules and output relay extension modules. Slot B supports 5/12 V digital encoder, analog encoder, or resolver encoder feedback — needed for closed-loop speed or position control on synchronous motors. The control terminal block accepts 0.5...1.5 mm² (AWG 20...16) wire. External 24 V DC supply for digital inputs (19...30 V) is required; the drive provides an internal 10.5 V DC reference for a 1...10 kΩ potentiometer and a separate 24 V DC supply for digital inputs and STO.
