The Schneider ATV950U15N4 is a current-production Altivar Process ATV900 variable speed drive sized for a 1.5 kW induction or synchronous motor in normal duty, or 0.75 kW in heavy duty, on a 380...480 V three-phase supply. Nominal output current is 4.0 A, with 4 A continuous at 4 kHz switching for normal duty, and 2.2 A for heavy duty. The drive carries an integrated braking chopper and an IP55 enclosed wall-mount assembly — rated UL Type 1, so it handles washdown or dusty environments without an additional cabinet.
Control power and STO supply
The drive expects a 24 V DC (19...30 V) external supply for the digital inputs. It also generates an internal 10.5 V DC reference for a 1 to 10 kOhm potentiometer, and a separate 24 V DC (21...27 V) internal supply for the digital inputs and the Safe Torque Off (STO) circuit. The STO supply is isolated — 1 MOhm at 500 V DC for one minute to earth — so you can keep the safety chain separate from the main DC bus.
Fieldbus and I/O expansion
The ATV950U15N4 ships with Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP on the embedded communication port, plus a Modbus serial port. Slot A accepts a Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, CANopen (daisy chain RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals), or Ethernet Powerlink module. Slot B takes a 5/12 V digital encoder interface, analog encoder interface, or resolver encoder interface. Slots A, B, and C can also host digital/analog I/O extension or output relay extension modules.
The drive is CE marked and complies with UL 508C, IEC 61800-3, IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 61000-3-12, IEC 60721-3, IEC 61508, and IEC 13849-1. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61000-3-12 for THDI (<48 % at full load) and the EMC plate option is available for higher performance. The assembly is rated for chemical pollution resistance class 3C3 and dust pollution resistance class 3S3 per IEC 60721-3-3. Operating altitude up to 4800 m with 1 % current derating per 100 m above 1000 m.
