The ATV980C25T4X1 is a regenerative variable speed drive in the Altivar Process ATV900 family, rated 280/220 kW on a 480 V three-phase supply (50...60 Hz ±5 %). It is designed for asynchronous and synchronous motors, and ships as a complete floor-standing enclosure (Spacial SF) with the graphical operating panel, main switch, line choke, dv/dt filter choke, and terminal blocks included. Regenerative operation means it can return braking energy to the line, which matters for overhauling loads or applications where deceleration energy is significant. The IP23 enclosure is intended for indoor installation where some dust ingress is tolerable but not wash-down environments.
Supply voltage is 480 V ±10 % three-phase; the drive will accept a nominal 400 VAC system but the power ratings scale with voltage. Operating temperature range is 0...40 °C without derating, and 40...50 °C with derating — no operation below 0 °C unless the optional enclosure heater is fitted. Altitude derating starts at 1000 m: 1 % current reduction per 100 m up to 2000 m, and further derating above that for all earthing systems (TT, TN, IT). The drive carries CE marking and complies with IEC 61800-2 (adjustable speed drives), IEC 61800-3 (EMC), IEC 61800-5-1 (safety), and IEC 60204-1 (electrical equipment of machines).
Integration notes
Mounting is vertical ±10°, forced convection cooling requires clearance around the enclosure for airflow. Communication is via Modbus TCP, Modbus serial, and EtherNet/IP — no fieldbus option card needed for these protocols. EMC immunity meets level 3 for electrostatic discharge, radiated RF, conducted RF, and surge (1.2/50 µs - 8/20 µs), and level 4 for fast transients. Vibration resistance is 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 3...20 Hz and 0.6 gn at 10...200 Hz (class 3M3). Shock resistance is 4 gn for 11 ms (class 3M2).
