The ATV980C40Q4X1 is a regenerative variable speed drive from the Altivar Process ATV900 family, built as a compact floor-standing enclosure that includes the frequency inverter, line choke, dv/dt filter choke, main switch, and a graphical operating panel in the door. It is sized for 315 kW output on a 380…415 V three-phase supply, with a THDI below 5 % at full load per IEEE 519. The IP23 enclosure (IEC 61800-5-1) handles indoor installation where some splash or dripping water may occur, but it is not a washdown rating.
Supply voltage is 380…415 V at 50/60 Hz ±5 %, three-phase. The drive is rated for both asynchronous and synchronous motors. Ambient temperature range for full rated operation is 0…40 °C without derating; above that, derate linearly up to 50 °C. Below 0 °C, an optional enclosure heating is required. Altitude derating starts at 1000 m — 1 % per 100 m up to 2000 m, and continues the same slope to 4800 m for TT, TN, and IT earthing systems.
Built-in connectivity and EMC
Onboard communication includes Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus serial. EMC immunity meets level 3 for ESD, radiated RF, and conducted RF; level 4 for fast transients; level 3 for surges (1.2/50 µs – 8/20 µs). The drive is CE marked and complies with IEC 60204-1, IEC 61800-2, IEC 61800-3, and IEC 61800-5-1. Environmental resistance covers chemical class 3C3, dust class 3S3, and humidity class 3K3 per IEC 60721-3-3.
