The ATV980C40T4X1 is a variable speed drive from the Altivar Process ATV900 range, specifically the ATV980 Regenerative System variant. It is rated for 450/355 kW at 480 V supply, comes in a floor-standing enclosure with IP23 protection, and carries CE marking. It is designed for both asynchronous and synchronous motors.
Supply voltage is 480 V +/- 10 %, three-phase, 50/60 Hz. The drive is rated for 450 kW (heavy duty) and 355 kW (normal duty) — the lower figure is the continuous rating for standard motor loads, while the higher figure applies to lighter-duty profiles. Operating temperature range is 0 to 40 °C without derating, with derating up to 50 °C. Below 0 °C, an optional enclosure heater is required. Altitude derating starts at 1000 m: 1 % current derating per 100 m up to 2000 m, and further derating up to 4800 m depending on earthing system (TT, TN, IT). The drive includes a dv/dt filter choke, line choke, main switch, and a graphical operating panel in the enclosure door. Communication ports support Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus serial. Forced convection cooling keeps the power stage within limits.
The ATV980C40T4X1 complies with IEC 60204-1, IEC 61800-2, IEC 61800-3, and IEC 61800-5-1. EMC immunity levels are level 3 for electrostatic discharge, radiated RF, electrical fast transient, surge, and conducted RF, with level 4 for fast transient/burst. Vibration resistance is 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 3–20 Hz and 0.6 gn at 10–200 Hz, meeting IEC 60721-3-3 class 3M3. Shock resistance is 4 gn for 11 ms.
