The ATV980C45Q4X1 is a regenerative variable speed drive from the Altivar Process ATV900 family, rated for 450 to 355 kW on a 380...415 V three-phase supply at 50...60 Hz. It comes in a floor-standing compact enclosure with IP23 protection, includes a line choke, dv/dt filter, main switch, and a graphical operating panel mounted in the door. This is a regenerative system — it returns braking energy to the line, which makes it a fit for applications with frequent deceleration or overhauling loads where a braking resistor would otherwise be needed.
Supply voltage is 380...415 V -10...6 %, so it handles nominal 400 V grids with typical dips and swells. The drive is designed for both asynchronous and synchronous motors. Total harmonic current distortion (THDI) is under 5 % at full load, meeting IEEE 519 — that means less line-side filtering needed in sensitive installations. Ambient temperature range is 0...40 °C without derating, and up to 50 °C with derating; below 0 °C an optional enclosure heater is required. Altitude derating starts at 1000 m: 1 % per 100 m up to 2000 m, then continues at the same rate to 4800 m with earthing system restrictions (TT, TN, IT).
Integration notes
Communication ports support Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus serial — no additional option card needed for those protocols. The drive is delivered in a floor-standing enclosure (Spacial SF) with the main supply and motor terminal blocks, line choke, and dv/dt filter already wired. Cooling is forced convection; mounting must be vertical within ±10°. Vibration resistance is rated to 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 3...20 Hz and 0.6 gn at 10...200 Hz (IEC 60068-2-6, class 3M3). Shock resistance is 4 gn for 11 ms (IEC 60068-2-27). Environmental classes: 3C3 (chemical), 3S3 (dust), 3K3 (humidity).
