The ATV980C56Q4X1 is a regenerative variable speed drive from the Altivar Process ATV900 family, designed for 380–415 V three-phase supplies and rated for 560 kW (heavy duty) down to 450 kW (normal duty). It ships as a floor-standing compact enclosure (IP23) with forced convection cooling, and includes the line choke, dv/dt filter choke, main switch, and a graphical operator panel mounted in the door — so it arrives as a near-complete drive cabinet, not a bare chassis. Built for both asynchronous and synchronous motor control, it complies with IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 60204-1, IEC 61800-3, and IEC 61800-2. The drive is CE marked and carries pollution degree 2, overvoltage category III, and EMC immunity at test level 3 or 4 across the key transient and radiated-field tests.
Communication and integration
Three communication ports are built in: Modbus serial, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP. No option card needed for the common industrial Ethernet protocols. The drive also includes a graphical operator panel on the enclosure door, so commissioning and monitoring do not require a laptop for basic tasks.
Environmental and installation constraints
Rated for 0 to 40 °C ambient without derating, and 40 to 50 °C with derating. Below 0 °C, operation is possible with the optional enclosure heating. Altitude derating starts at 1000 m: 1 % current derating per 100 m up to 2000 m, and the same slope continues to 3800 m (or 4800 m for TT/TN/IT systems). If the installation is above 1000 m, factor that into the motor current requirement. The enclosure is rated IP23. Vibration resistance is 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 3–20 Hz and 0.6 gn at 10–200 Hz.
