The ATV980C71Q4X1 is a regenerative variable speed drive from the Altivar Process ATV900 family, rated 710 to 560 kW on a 380–415 V three-phase supply (-10...6 %). It ships as a floor-standing compact enclosure (IP23) with a built-in dv/dt filter choke, line choke, main switch, and a graphical operating panel on the door — essentially a pre-integrated regenerative drive package for motor control panels.
Supply frequency is 50...60 Hz ±5 %, so it matches standard mains globally. Total harmonic current distortion (THDI) is under 5 % at full load per IEEE 519 — that's the key number for meeting grid codes without external filtering. The IP23 enclosure allows indoor installation with some drip and dust protection; forced convection cooling means you need clearance around the cabinet for airflow. Operating altitude derates current 1 % per 100 m above 1000 m, and the drive is rated for overvoltage category III on a TN/TT/IT earthing system up to 4800 m with derating. Ambient temperature range is 0...40 °C without derating, 40...50 °C with derating factor. Below 0 °C an optional enclosure heater is needed. The drive handles shock to 4 gn for 11 ms and vibration to 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 3–20 Hz, meeting IEC 60721-3-3 class 3M3 — rugged enough for most industrial floors.
Built-in communications and I/O
Onboard protocols include Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus serial — no option card needed for the common fieldbuses. The drive is designed for both asynchronous and synchronous motors, giving flexibility for retrofits or new machine designs.
