The Schneider Electric ATV9A0C13R4 is an Altivar Process ATV900 modular variable speed drive sized for 132 kW at 440 V normal duty and 110 kW at 440 V heavy duty, with corresponding line currents of 214 A and 183 A. It handles both synchronous and asynchronous motors, making it a fit for a wide range of industrial motor loads from pumps and fans to conveyors and compressors.
The normal duty rating (132 kW, 214 A) is the continuous rating for standard variable-torque applications like centrifugal pumps and fans. The heavy duty rating (110 kW, 183 A) applies for constant-torque loads such as conveyors or positive-displacement pumps, where the drive must sustain higher torque at low speed. The 163 kVA apparent power at normal duty gives a quick check for transformer sizing. Switching frequency is adjustable from 2.5 to 8 kHz, with derating above the default. For motor cable runs longer than 300 m, the integrated EMC filter is rated to IEC 61800-3 category C3, which covers second-environment industrial installations. The drive also carries STO (Safe Torque Off) rated SIL 3 per IEC 61508, so it can serve in safety-related applications without an external safety relay for the stop function.
Integration and fieldbus options
The drive comes as a modular kit: a 160 kW power module, a control unit, mechanical mounting kits, and a power connection set of fuses. Three option slots (A, B, C) accept communication modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, CANopen (daisy chain RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals), as well as digital/analog I/O and relay extension modules. Slot B also supports encoder interfaces (digital 5/12 V, analog, or resolver). Built-in Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP uses two RJ45 ports on the control block, with auto-negotiation and 10/100 Mbit/s. A separate RJ45 port handles Modbus serial at 4.8 to 38.4 kbit/s on a 2-wire RS-485 physical layer. The Modbus serial supports RTU framing and up to 247 slave addresses.
