The Schneider Electric ATV9A0C16Q6 is a cabinet-mount, modular variable frequency drive from the Altivar Process ATV900 series. It drives both synchronous and asynchronous motors, rated 160 kW at 690 V normal duty and 132 kW at 690 V heavy duty, with a corresponding line current of 163 A normal and 138 A heavy duty. Apparent power reaches 195 kVA at normal duty, 165 kVA heavy duty.
The switching frequency is adjustable from 2 to 4.9 kHz, with derating above the lower end — so if you need quieter operation at 4 kHz, expect a current reduction. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 for 300 m of motor cable, which covers most industrial installations without an external filter. The drive includes Safe Torque Off (STO) rated SIL 3, and a comprehensive suite of protections: thermal, overcurrent, short-circuit, phase loss, overvoltage/undervoltage on the DC bus, overspeed, and motor phase break. The IP00 chassis requires cabinet integration for IP21 or IP54; the UL type 1 and type 12 ratings apply only when mounted in a suitable enclosure.
Fieldbus and I/O flexibility
Three option card slots (A, B, C) accept communication modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, and CANopen (daisy chain RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals). Slot A also takes digital/analog I/O extension modules and output relay modules; slots B and C accept encoder interface modules (digital 5/12 V, analog, resolver). The drive ships with a control unit, mechanical mounting kits, power connection set, fuses, and a 200 kW power module. Built-in serial Modbus RTU (2-wire RS-485, 4.8 to 38.4 kbit/s, RTU frame, 1 to 247 addresses) and Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP (10/100 Mbit/s, half/full duplex, autonegotiation) are standard. The digital inputs require an external 24 V DC supply (19…30 V); an internal 24 V DC supply (21…27 V) powers the digital inputs and STO logic. A 10.5 V DC reference supply is available for a 1 to 10 kΩ potentiometer.
Rated for operation at 50…60 Hz ±5 %, altitudes up to 2000 m (derate above 1000 m), 5…95 % relative humidity without condensation, and vibration resistance of 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 2…13 Hz and 0.5 gn at 13…200 Hz. Shock resistance is 4 gn for 11 ms. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1. Noise level is 69 dB. Compliance standards include IEC 61800-3, IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 61000-3-12, IEC 60721-3, IEC 61508, and IEC 13849-1. Marking is CE.
