Motor power and duty cycling
The ATV9A0C35Q4: This ATV900 drive is rated for 355 kW at 400 V in normal duty and 280 kW at 400 V in heavy duty, with corresponding line currents of 611 A and 489 A.
Safe torque off and safety integration
The drive integrates a Safe Torque Off (STO) function rated SIL 3, which removes rotational energy from the motor shaft without needing an external contactor. This is the standard interface for safety-rated stop categories in machine guarding circuits per IEC 61800-5-2.
EMC and installation constraints
The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 with up to 300 m of motor cable, which covers most industrial installations inside a building but not residential zones. Above 1000 m altitude the drive requires current derating; at 4800 m it still operates but at reduced output. The switching frequency is adjustable from 2 to 8 kHz, but above 2.5 kHz the output current must be derated. Running at 8 kHz quiets the motor whine but cuts the available continuous current — size the drive for the lower derated figure if audible noise is the priority.
The drive carries CE marking and complies with IEC 61800-3 (EMC), IEC 61800-5-1 (safety), IEC 61000-3-12 (harmonics), IEC 60721-3 (environmental), IEC 61508, and IEC 13849-1 (functional safety). These cover the documentation package for a European CE declaration of conformity and the functional-safety dossier for SIL-rated applications.
