The Schneider ATV9A0C45T4 is a modular Altivar Process ATV900 drive sized for 650 hp at 480 V normal duty or 550 hp heavy duty, pulling 685 A or 586 A line current respectively. Apparent power comes to 569 kVA at normal duty, 487 kVA heavy duty. It handles synchronous and asynchronous motors, with a switching frequency adjustable from 2 to 8 kHz — derate above 2.5 kHz. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 for 300 m cable runs.
Supply and control architecture
Digital inputs need an external 24 V DC supply (19...30 V). The drive also provides an internal 10.5 V DC supply for a 1 to 10 kOhm reference potentiometer, plus a separate 24 V DC (21...27 V) supply for digital inputs and STO. Control wiring lands on removable screw terminals accepting 0.5...1.5 mm² (AWG 20...16). Line-side connection uses screw terminals; motor connection uses M10 x 2 bars.
Safety and standards
STO (safe torque off) is rated SIL 3. The drive complies with IEC 61800-3, IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 61000-3-12, IEC 60721-3, IEC 61508, and IEC 13849-1. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1. Prospective line Isc is 50 kA. IP00 rating — intended for IP21 or IP54 cabinet integration. Operating altitude up to 4800 m with current derating above 1000 m.
Fieldbus and option slots
Slot A accepts Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, or CANopen (daisy chain RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals). Slots A/B/C accept digital/analog I/O extension or output relay modules. Slot B also accepts 5/12 V digital encoder or analog encoder or resolver modules. Built-in Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP on 2 RJ45 ports (10/100 Mbit/s, half/full duplex, autonegotiation). Modbus serial on 1 RJ45, 2-wire RS-485, RTU frame, 4.8 to 38.4 kbit/s, addresses 1...247.
