Drive rating and duty selection
The ATV9A0C63Q4 is a modular Altivar Process ATV900 AC drive rated 630 kW at 400 V in normal duty and 500 kW at 400 V in heavy duty, with corresponding line currents of 1058 A and 849 A respectively. Heavy-duty rating governs continuous overload capability for high-torque loads such as conveyors or extruders; normal duty applies to variable-torque loads like centrifugal pumps and fans where peak demand is lower.
Safety and control supply architecture
Control supply is internally generated: 24 V DC for digital inputs and STO (21...27 V), plus a 10.5 V DC reference for an external 1 to 10 kOhm potentiometer. The digital input supply can also be fed externally at 19...30 V DC if isolation from the drive's internal rail is required.
Fieldbus and option slot flexibility
Slot A accepts communication modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, or CANopen (RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals). Slots A, B, and C also accept digital/analog I/O extension and output relay modules. Slot B supports encoder interface modules (5/12 V digital, analog, or resolver), making the drive suitable for closed-loop speed or position control on synchronous or asynchronous motors. Built-in dual RJ45 ports for Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP at 10/100 Mbit/s, plus a separate RJ45 for Modbus serial (RTU, 4.8 to 38.4 kbit/s) — the drive ships as a Modbus TCP slave with autonegotiation.
Switching frequency and derating
Adjustable switching frequency from 2 to 8 kHz (factory default 2.5 kHz). Raising the carrier above 2.5 kHz reduces audible motor noise but derates the continuous output current — the derating factor is applied above the base frequency and must be accounted for in the thermal budget at full load.
