Motor power and duty-cycle selection
The ATV9B0C20T4: Rated 300 HP at 480 V in normal duty and 250 HP at 480 V in heavy duty, with corresponding line currents of 292 A and 245 A respectively. The heavy-duty rating governs continuous overload capability for pumps, conveyors, or compressors that see sustained torque; the normal-duty figure applies when the load profile stays below the drive's rated current most of the cycle.
Safety and compliance backbone
The drive also carries CE marking and complies with IEC 61800-3 (EMC), IEC 61800-5-1 (safety), UL 61800-5-1, and IEC 61000-3-12 for harmonic emissions.
Fieldbus and I/O expansion slots
Three option slots (A, B, C) accept communication modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen, EtherCAT, or Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP — the base unit already carries two RJ45 Ethernet ports and one RJ45 Modbus serial port. Slot A/B/C also accept digital/analog I/O extension and output relay modules, so the drive can absorb remote I/O without a separate fieldbus coupler.
Switching frequency and derating
Adjustable carrier from 2 to 8 kHz; the 2.5–8 kHz range carries a derating factor. Running at 8 kHz quiets motor whine but reduces continuous output current — budget the derating into the cable and heatsink sizing if the application demands low audible noise.
