The ATV9B0C31Q6 is a modular cabinet-mount drive from the Altivar Process ATV900 range, sized for a 315 kW asynchronous or synchronous motor at 690 V normal duty, or 250 kW heavy duty. Line current at 690 V normal duty is 287 A; heavy duty pulls 228 A. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 for 300 m cable runs — no external filter needed for most industrial installations. Safe torque off (STO) is rated SIL 3, so the safety CPU can be on a separate network segment without a dedicated safety relay.
Supply and control architecture
Digital inputs and STO are fed from an external 24 V DC supply (19...30 V for inputs, 21...27 V for STO). There's also a 10.5 V DC internal reference for a 1 to 10 kOhm potentiometer. The control terminal uses removable screw terminals, 0.5...1.5 mm². Modbus serial is on a 2-wire RS 485 at selectable baud rates (4.8 to 38.4 kbit/s), with RTU framing and up to 247 addresses. Dual RJ45 ports for Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP run at 10/100 Mbit/s.
Option card slots and fieldbus
Slot A accepts a communication module for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen (RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals), or EtherCAT. Slots A, B, and C can take digital/analog I/O extension modules or output relay extension modules. Slot B also supports a 5/12 V digital encoder interface, an analog encoder interface, or a resolver interface. That means the drive can be dropped into a PROFINET line without a gateway — just slot in the card.
