Drive rating and duty selection
The ATV9B0C35Q4 is a modular Altivar Process ATV900 drive rated 355 kW at 400 V in normal duty, stepping to 280 kW in heavy duty. That heavy-duty ceiling is the figure to use when the load profile includes sustained overloads — conveyors, crushers, or extruders that pull above the nominal torque for more than a minute. Apparent power at 400 V is 383 kVA normal duty, 302 kVA heavy duty. The corresponding line current at 400 V is 553 A normal duty, 436 A heavy duty — these numbers govern the upstream breaker and cable sizing, not the motor nameplate.
Safety and grid compliance
The STO supply is 24 V DC (21...27 V) drawn from the drive's internal supply. Total harmonic current distortion (THDI) is below 5% at full load, compliant with IEEE 519. That keeps the drive from polluting the plant distribution when multiple drives run on the same transformer — a common pain point in rolling mills and process lines.
Fieldbus and I/O flexibility
Slot A accepts communication modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen (RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals), or EtherCAT. Slots A, B, and C also accept digital/analog I/O extension modules and output relay modules. Slot B is reserved for encoder interfaces (digital 5/12 V, analog, or resolver). Built-in Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP on two RJ45 ports, plus a separate RJ45 for Modbus serial (RS-485, 2-wire, RTU format). The Ethernet ports run at 10/100 Mbit/s; the serial link runs 4.8 to 38.4 kbit/s.
CE marked, designed to IEC 61800-3, IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 61000-3-12, IEC 60721-3, IEC 61508, and IEC 13849-1. Integrated EMC filter meets Category C3 with 300 m motor cable.
