450 hp at 600 V — normal and heavy duty profiles
The ATV9B0C40T6 is a modular Altivar Process ATV900 drive rated 450 hp at 600 V normal duty and 350 hp at 600 V heavy duty. The heavy-duty line current is 277 A versus 355 A for normal duty — the same drive handles a pump or fan at full nameplate or a crusher/conveyor at the lower derated figure. Apparent power tracks the duty: 369 kVA normal, 288 kVA heavy. The regenerative-mode ratings drop further to 237 kVA normal and 169 kVA heavy, which matters if the application decelerates a high-inertia load and needs to sink regenerated power back to the line.
STO SIL 3 and integrated EMC filter
The drive also integrates an EMC filter rated for 300 m cable runs to IEC 61800-3 category C3, which covers most industrial environments without an external filter. Total harmonic current distortion (THDI) stays below 5 % at full load per IEEE 519 — the active front-end or integrated line reactor handles the harmonics without an add-on filter in most utility grids.
Fieldbus and I/O expansion slots
The control unit carries two RJ45 ports for Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP and one RJ45 for Modbus serial, plus a 2-wire RS-485 physical interface. Slot A accepts Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen, or EtherCAT communication modules; slots A/B/C also accept digital/analog I/O extension and relay output modules. Slot B supports a 5/12 V digital encoder interface, analog encoder interface, or resolver interface. Modbus serial runs at 4.8, 9.6, 19.2, or 38.4 kbit/s with RTU frame and configurable parity; Ethernet ports run at 10/100 Mbit/s. The drive supports 1–247 Modbus addresses.
