The Schneider ATV9B0C50T4 is a modular cabinet-mount drive from the Altivar Process ATV900 series, rated 700 HP at 480 V normal duty and 600 HP heavy duty. It handles both synchronous and asynchronous motors, with a switching frequency adjustable from 2 to 8 kHz and derating above 2.5 kHz. The drive includes an integrated EMC filter compliant with IEC 61800-3 category C3 for 300 m cable runs, and carries STO (Safe Torque Off) SIL 3 as a standard safety function.
Power and duty ratings
Line current at 480 V is 674 A for normal duty, 578 A for heavy duty, and 585.2 A / 501.6 A in regenerative mode for normal and heavy duty respectively. Apparent power follows: 561 kVA normal duty, 480 kVA heavy duty, 486.5 kVA regenerative normal, 417 kVA regenerative heavy. These figures define the drive's capability for continuous motor loads and braking energy recovery.
Control supply and safety
The drive requires an external 24 V DC supply (19...30 V) for digital inputs, and provides an internal 10.5 V DC ±5% supply for a reference potentiometer (1 to 10 kΩ). A separate internal 24 V DC (21...27 V) rail powers the digital inputs and STO circuit. Insulation resistance is 1 MΩ at 500 V DC for 1 minute to earth.
Fieldbus and I/O expansion
The ATV9B0C50T4 comes with dual RJ45 ports for Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP and one RJ45 for Modbus serial (RS-485 2-wire, RTU, 4.8 to 38.4 kbit/s). Slot A accepts communication modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen (RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals), or EtherCAT. Slots A, B, and C accept digital/analog I/O extension modules and output relay extension modules. Slot B also accepts encoder interface modules for 5/12 V digital, analog, or resolver encoders.
