Product details

The Schneider ATV9B0C56T4 is an Altivar Process ATV900 variable frequency drive in the modular cabinet-mount format. It's rated for 800 hp at 480 V normal duty and 650 hp at 480 V heavy duty, with corresponding line currents of 771 A and 626 A. This is the current-production variant — no end-of-life notice on it.

Supply and control architecture

The drive needs an external 24 V DC supply (19...30 V) for the digital inputs. It also generates an internal 10.5 V DC reference for a 1 to 10 kOhm potentiometer, and a separate 24 V DC (21...27 V) rail for the digital inputs and STO safety circuit. Insulation resistance is 1 MOhm at 500 V DC for one minute to earth.

Motor and duty flexibility

Handles both asynchronous and synchronous motors. The switching frequency is adjustable from 2 to 8 kHz, with derating above 2.5 kHz. Apparent power at 480 V normal duty is 641 kVA; heavy duty drops to 520 kVA. Regenerative mode ratings are also specified: 556 kVA normal duty, 451.7 kVA heavy duty.

Safety and compliance

Integrated STO (Safe Torque Off) rated SIL 3. The drive carries CE marking and complies with IEC 61800-3, IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 61000-3-12, IEC 60721-3, IEC 61508, IEC 13849-1, and UL 61800-5-1. The built-in EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 for cable runs up to 300 m. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1.

Fieldbus and I/O expansion

Comes with two RJ45 ports for Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP and one RJ45 for Modbus serial. Transmission rates are 10/100 Mbit/s on the Ethernet side and 4.8 to 38.4 kbit/s on Modbus serial (RTU, 2-wire RS-485, 1...247 addresses). Option card slots A, B, and C accept communication modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen (daisy chain RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals), and EtherCAT. I/O expansion and encoder interface modules also fit these slots.

Cabinet mount, forced convection cooling. Operating altitude up to 4800 m with derating above 1000 m. Ambient conditions: 5...95 % relative humidity non-condensing, vibration 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 2...13 Hz and 0.5 gn at 13...200 Hz, shock 4 gn for 11 ms. IP00 rating for integration into IP21 or IP54 cabinets; also UL Type 1 and Type 12 when cabinet-integrated.
