The Schneider Electric ATV9B0C80T6 is an Altivar Process ATV900 modular cabinet-mount drive rated for 800 hp at 600 V normal duty and 650 hp at 600 V heavy duty. It handles both synchronous and asynchronous motors, with line current ratings of 628 A (normal duty) and 513 A (heavy duty) at 600 V. The drive includes integrated Safe Torque Off (STO) rated SIL 3, an integrated EMC filter compliant with IEC 61800-3 category C3 (300 m cable), and a switching frequency adjustable from 2 to 4.9 kHz with derating.
The regenerative-mode ratings (650 hp normal duty, 550 hp heavy duty) apply when the motor must brake and return energy to the line — verify your application needs that capability before specifying. Line current at 600 V normal duty is 628 A; heavy duty draws 513 A. These numbers drive the upstream breaker, cable, and buswork sizing. Prospective line short-circuit current rating is 50 kA, so the drive can be installed on a high-fault-capacity distribution panel without additional series protection in most cases. The integrated EMC filter meets category C3 for 300 m of motor cable — sufficient for most industrial installations within a building. For longer cable runs or first-environment (residential) compliance, an external output filter may be required.
Integration notes
This is a modular version — the kit includes the control unit, power module (200 kW), mechanical mounting kits, power connection set, fuses, and three front covers. It mounts in a cabinet (IP00 for IP21 or IP54 cabinet integration). Cooling is forced convection; derate current above 1000 m altitude. Communication options are extensive: three slots (A, B, C) accept modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CANopen (RJ45 or SUB-D 9 or screw terminals), EtherCAT, plus digital/analog I/O extension and output relay modules. Slot B also accepts encoder interface modules (5/12 V digital, analog, resolver). The base unit includes dual RJ45 Ethernet IP/Modbus TCP ports and one RJ45 Modbus serial port.
