Conformal-coated for Hazardous Locations
The Schneider BMENOC0311C is an active Modicon M580 advanced Ethernet module with conformal coating and hazardous-location certifications covering Class I Division 2 and ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU. It carries marked CE and compliance with UL 61010-2-201, CSA C22.2 No 61010-2-201, IACS, and IEC 61850-3 for substation environments. The conformal coating and the full set of environmental ratings mean the module is factory-prepared for corrosive gas, salt, and mold growth environments per ISA S71.04 and IEC 60721-3-3 — no field-applied coating needed.
Power Budget Dependence on Firmware Version
Power is supplied through the Modicon X80 rack backplane. Current consumption is 900 mA at 3.3 V DC for product version ≥14, and 1800 mA at 3.3 V DC for versions <14. That is a two-to-one swing: if you are specifying spare modules or swapping into an existing rack, confirm the firmware revision or order a current-version unit to keep the backplane budget predictable. Because the module draws from the rack's internal supply, no external power wiring is needed — one less termination point in a panel build.
Communication Services and Onboard Diagnostics
Three RJ45 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet ports with an embedded multiport switch. Supports RSTP for ring redundancy, port mirroring, Modbus TCP I/O Scanner and Messaging, and Ethernet/IP I/O Scanner and Messaging. SNMP network administrator and FDR server are built in. Local signaling: one green RUN LED, one red ERR LED, plus bi-color LEDs for Ethernet port configuration status (ETH MS) and network status (Eth NS). No need to connect a laptop to see if the module is online and the network is intact. An advanced web server with FactoryCast configurable web services is included — diagnostic pages and parameter adjustments through a standard browser.
