The BMI0703T16A: The absolute single-turn Hiperface SinCos encoder delivers position and speed data from power-up — no homing move needed, which shaves seconds off each cycle in pick-and-place or indexing stations. If you're commissioning this motor and see a drift or alarm on the drive, look at the shield termination first. The encoder cable shield should terminate at the drive end only; floating the motor side keeps ground loops off the SinCos lines. The integrated EMC filter clamps common-mode noise from the motor cable back to the drive. Mount the motor close to the drive cabinet — a long unshielded pigtail between the filter output and the motor defeats the attenuation. With the filter bonded to panel earth, conducted emissions stay inside the enclosure.
Mounting and mechanical fit
The motor flange is 70 mm square with a 60 mm centring collar and 5.5 mm mounting holes — mates to international standard flanges. Shaft is 14 mm diameter, keyed 5 mm wide, 30 mm long. Overall body length is 300 mm. Cooling is natural convection; no fan or forced air required. Leave at least 50 mm clearance around the housing for airflow. The IP54 shaft seal and IP65 housing tolerate washdown spray if the connector is properly torqued — but keep the cable entry pointed down to avoid pooling on the gland.
