Platform role and key ratings
The Schneider Electric BMXP341000H is a processor module for the Modicon M340 automation platform, powered via the rack backplane (72 mA at 24 V DC) and featuring Modbus serial master/slave communication with selectable RTU, ASCII or character mode over non-isolated RS232/485 links. Execution speed sits at 0.18 µs for Boolean instructions and 4.2 Kinst/ms under a mixed 65 % Boolean / 35 % fixed-arithmetic load, giving the processor capacity for 512 discrete local I/O and 128 analog I/O channels across two racks. Internal memory comprises 2 MB RAM (128 kB data, 1,792 kB program/constants/symbols) with option to use a BMXRMS008MP memory card for non-volatile backup of program and constants.
Lifecycle and compliance posture
The module carries global compliance marks: CE, UL, CSA, RCM, EAC, UKCA, China RoHS, WEEE, IEC, ATEX, plus conformity to IEC 61131-2, IEC 61010-2-201, UL 61010-2-201, CSA C22.2 No 61010-2-201, and environmental resistance per ISA S71.04 GX and IEC 60721-3-3 (gas, dust, sand, salt, mold). Conformal coating is standard, supporting deployment in severe environments with operating temperature from -25 to 70 °C and relative humidity 5–95 % non-condensing.
Integration and control capacity
Application structure supports 32 event tasks plus one cyclic/master task and one fast task (0.2 ms overhead) and one master task (1.05 ms overhead). No auxiliary task. This suits time-critical sequences and periodic monitoring in a single processor chassis. Modbus communication addresses up to 248 devices per segment across 0–10 m non-isolated segments or 0–1,000 m isolated segments, with diagnostic counters and event counters built in. The serial link also supports character mode (ASCII) with similar reach. Processor capacity extends to two Ethernet communication modules and two AS-Interface modules, plus 20 application-specific channels.
