The Schneider Electric BMXP342020 is a Modicon M340 processor module built around a Transparent Ready Modbus architecture. It draws 95 mA from the rack backplane at 24 V DC — the supply is internal, so no separate power wiring is needed on that front. Rated for 0 to 60 °C ambient, IP20, and carries the full set of global marks: CE, UL, CSA, RCM, EAC, UKCA, China RoHS, WEEE, and IEC 61131-2 compliance.
Modbus serial link and isolation
Non-isolated serial segments top out at 10 m; isolated ones reach 1000 m. If you're chasing intermittent faults on a long Modbus run, check whether the serial link is isolated — the BMXP342020 supports both, but the segment length and noise immunity are completely different animals. The RJ45 is wired for twisted shielded pairs; the shield is the first thing to suspect when the signal drifts. Point-to-point is limited to two devices per link in character mode or Modbus mode. For multidrop, expect up to 32 devices per isolated segment.

The BMXP342020 shares its rack interface and Modbus architecture with the BMXP342020H and BMXP342000 variants. The difference tends to be in memory configuration or pre-loaded application profiles — not in the physical footprint or power draw. If you're evaluating a swap, confirm that the application's memory and task structure (cyclic/periodic master, fast task, event tasks) match what the BMXP342020 provides: 3584 kB of program/constant space plus 256 kB data, and up to 64 event tasks.
