What it is and why it matters for your build
The BMXXBP1600H is a 16-slot ruggedized backplane for the Modicon X80 platform, designed for severe environments and hazardous locations (Class I Div 2). It carries a conformal coating and an operating range from -25 to 70 °C, so it holds up in cold storage rooms, outdoor cabinets, and areas with humidity swings up to 95 % non-condensing. At 634.6 mm wide, it is the largest standard X80 backplane — you get 16 bus X slots for I/O, processor, or communication modules. The depth is just 19 mm, so it fits shallow enclosures without sacrificing slot count.
Mounting and mechanical fit
Mount with six M5 or M6 screws on a panel or mounting plate. The board is 108 mm tall. Allocate at least that vertical clearance plus space for connectors and wiring. IP20 rated — no additional protection from dust ingress, but the conformal coating guards against condensation and corrosive atmospheres.
Compliance and documentation
Carries several key standards: EN/IEC 61131-2 (PLC equipment), EN/IEC 61010-2-201 (control equipment safety), and UL 61010-2-201 / CSA C22.2 No 61010-2-201. It also meets EN/IEC 61850-3 for substation environments and EN/IEC 61000-6-5 for industrial EMC immunity. Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU and EMC Directive 2014/30/EU apply.
