The C106TM032C is a Schneider Electric ComPacT NSX thermal-magnetic trip unit, rated 32 A at 50 °C, designed for the NSX100...250 frame. It provides LI protection — thermal overload (L) and magnetic short-circuit (I) — in a 4-pole, 3D configuration (three protected poles, neutral unprotected). The instantaneous magnetic pickup is fixed at 400 A, meaning a fault current above that level trips the breaker without intentional delay. The unit carries an IP40 protection rating, suitable for installation inside an enclosed panel where dust ingress is limited.
If your panel runs hotter — say 60 °C — you need to derate or step up to a higher amp frame. The long-time pickup (Ir) is adjustable from 0.7 to 1.0 x In (22.4 to 32 A), letting you fine-tune the overload threshold to match the downstream cable or load without swapping the trip unit. The fixed instantaneous pickup at 400 A (12.5 x In) is a deliberate choice: it avoids nuisance tripping on motor inrush or capacitor bank charging current, but it also means the short-circuit protection threshold is not adjustable. For a distribution board feeding mixed loads — lighting, small motors, control transformers — this fixed band is usually fine.
