Motor protection breaker with magnetic-only trip
It is designed specifically for motor protection, providing short-circuit protection (magnetic) without thermal overload elements — the overload protection is delegated to a separate motor starter or thermal relay upstream. The breaker carries an F breaking capacity code, delivering 36 kA Icu at 380/415 V AC and 85 kA Icu at 220/240 V AC per IEC 60947-2. It is also certified for isolation per EN/IEC 60947-2, meaning it can safely disconnect a motor circuit for maintenance.
At 440 V AC the rating drops to 35 kA, and at 690 V AC it falls to 8 kA — so for 690 V applications the available fault current must be verified against that lower limit. The breaker also carries UL 60947-4-1 ratings: 85 kA at 240 V AC, 25 kA at 480 V AC, and 10 kA at 600 V AC, which covers North American motor branch circuits. The MA trip unit is category A (no intentional short-time delay), so full selectivity with downstream devices requires careful coordination study.
Physical integration and environment
The 35 mm connection pitch is standard for ComPacT busbar systems.
Endurance and dissipation
Mechanical endurance is rated at 50,000 cycles. Electrical endurance depends on switching voltage and current: 50,000 cycles at 440 V at half rated current (In/2), 30,000 cycles at 440 V at full In, and 10,000 cycles at 690 V at full In. Power dissipation per pole is 5.2 W, totaling 15.6 W for the three-pole breaker at rated load — a figure to include in thermal calculations for enclosed panels. Ambient operating range is 0–95 % relative humidity, non-condensing.
