The Schneider Electric C12H44V160L is a ComPacT NSXm moulded-case circuit breaker rated 160 A at 40 °C with a 4-pole (4P) configuration. For a distribution board fed from a transformer in the 1,000–2,000 kVA range, that SCCR gives you the headroom to avoid cascading failure upstream. The MicroLogic 4.1 electronic trip unit handles the protection curve. Electronic trip means you get better accuracy and repeatability than a thermal-magnetic breaker — especially on low-level overloads where a bimetal strip drifts with ambient temperature. The 4.1 variant includes integrated earth-leakage protection with selectable sensitivity from 30 mA up to 5 A for both class A and class AC residual currents. That alone saves you an external RCCB or Vigi module in the panel. Rated for category A utilisation (no intentional short-time delay), this MCCB is sized for distribution duty — feeding sub-distribution boards, large busbars, or high-current loads where you need selective coordination with downstream breakers. The 20-minute thermal memory before and after tripping means the breaker remembers its thermal history, so re-energising a hot circuit won't cause nuisance trips on a second overload.
The ComPacT NSXm platform is the compact-frame sibling of the larger NSX series. If your panel has tight width constraints, note the 108 mm width (12 module pitches at 9 mm) — that is narrower than a standard NSX 160 frame, which buys you an extra module position on the DIN rail for a surge device or contactor.
Mounting and integration details
The connection pitch is 35 mm with spreaders, 27 mm without — that matters when you are laying out busbars or cable lugs in a distribution cabinet. Front-front connections (upside and downside both front-accessible) simplify wiring in a row of breakers; you do not need rear-access panels. Terminals accept Everlink lugs: 2.5–70 mm² fine-stranded copper, or 2.5–95 mm² rigid/stranded aluminium or copper. That covers most distribution cable sizes up to 95 mm² — enough for a 160 A feed in standard PVC/SWA cable.
