What the 80 A TM-D and 70 kA breaking capacity mean for your panel
The 3-pole (3P) unit is built for distribution duty (EN/IEC 60947-2, Category A) and carries a 70 kA Icu breaking capacity at 415 V AC — the H suffix in the device short name NSX160H. The TM-D trip provides L (thermal overload) and I (magnetic short-circuit) protection in one block; no earth-leakage module is fitted. At 440 V AC the Icu is 65 kA, and at 690 V AC it drops to 10 kA — the rating that governs fit is the one at your system voltage, not the headline 100 kA at 240 V.
The front-face connection pitch is 35 mm, with both upside and downside connections on the front — no rear-access bus required. IP40 front face (IK07 impact rating) suits enclosed distribution boards; the pollution degree 3 rating (IEC 60664-1) means it's designed for industrial environments where conductive pollution can occur. The toggle control is manual, with 40,000 mechanical cycles and electrical durability ranging from 40,000 cycles at 440 V In/2 down to 7,500 cycles at 690 V In.
Power dissipation is 8.06 W per pole — three poles total, so roughly 24 W heat to vent. Operating altitude is 0–2000 m without derating, 2000–5000 m with derating. Relative humidity range 0–95 %.
