The MA trip unit is magnetic-only — no thermal element — so it provides short-circuit protection (I) only, leaving overload protection to an external relay or motor starter. That's standard for motor feeders where the contactor and overload handle running protection and the MCCB is there for the hard fault. The 220 A rating at 65 °C means the trip unit is calibrated for continuous current at that ambient; in a 50 °C cement plant control room you have headroom, but if the panel sits near the kiln at 65 °C you're right at the limit. Breaking capacity varies with voltage: 100 kA at 240 V, 70 kA at 415 V, 65 kA at 440 V, down to 10 kA at 690 V. For a 415 V motor feeder that 70 kA Icu gives solid selectivity with upstream gear — you can coordinate without oversizing the whole lineup. The 3-pole, 3-protected-pole configuration (3D) means all three poles have trip protection, not just a switched neutral. IP40 enclosure protection keeps out tools and fingers but not dust — this is a panel-mounted breaker, not a standalone enclosure. Mount it on a backplate (flat, horizontal or vertical) inside a cabinet that handles the dust seal.
