Control relay for panel builders
The Schneider CAD50AJD is a TeSys Deca control relay with five normally-open poles, a 12V DC coil, and snap-in terminals. It's built for control-circuit switching in industrial panels — think PLC outputs driving contactor coils, solenoid valves, or signal lamps. The 5 NO contact arrangement gives you five independent switching paths in one 45 mm wide package. Rated operational voltage is 690V, and the utilisation categories cover AC-15 (solenoid loads), AC-14 (low-inductive), and DC-13 (DC solenoids). That means it handles the inrush from contactor coils and the inductive kick from DC actuators without welding contacts. Operating temperature spans -40 to 60°C, with derating above 60°C up to 70°C. Storage range is -60 to 80°C. Altitude rating is 0 to 3000 m — fine for most installations, but watch it above 1000 m if you're in a high-altitude plant.
The 5 NO pole composition is the headline spec: you get five normally-open contacts, each rated for the same control-circuit duty. That's one more NO than the common 4 NO variant in the TeSys Deca family, so if your schematic calls for five independent control signals — say, five contactor coils or five pilot lights — this relay saves you a second device and the wiring that goes with it. The snap-in terminals mean the relay clips directly onto a DIN rail without tools. Panel builders will appreciate the 45 mm width — it occupies three standard 15 mm module positions, so you can plan your rail layout around that footprint. Mechanical robustness is specified: the relay withstands 10 Gn shocks for 11 ms when open, 15 Gn when closed, and vibrations of 2 Gn (open) or 4 Gn (closed) across 5-300 Hz. That's enough for most industrial environments, including conveyor systems and machine tools.
Standards compliance is broad: EN/IEC 60947-5-1, UL 60947-5-1, CSA C22.2 No 60947-5-1, GB/T 14048.5, and JIS C8201-5-1. That covers most global installations — Europe, North America, China, Japan. The TH protective treatment per IEC 60068 means it's tropicalized for humid environments.
The snap-in terminals accept the same fork or ring lugs as the TeSys D contactor range — no special tooling needed. IP2X front face protection (VDE 0106) means finger-safe from the front, but the sides and back are open to the enclosure. Dimensions: 45 mm wide, 107 mm high, 93 mm deep. That depth is the full body — leave clearance for wiring and any auxiliary contact blocks that snap onto the front. The 12V DC coil draws the standard TeSys Deca inrush; verify your PLC output can sink the holding current (typically under 5 VA for DC coils in this family).
