Control relay for control-circuit switching
The CAD50AML is a TeSys Deca control relay from Schneider Electric, designed for switching control circuits in industrial panels. It carries 5 normally-open contacts rated for utilisation categories AC-15, AC-14, and DC-13, which means it's built for solenoid and electromagnetic loads on the AC side and inductive DC loads like contactor coils and relays. The 220 V DC low-consumption coil keeps the inrush draw down on the control transformer.
The AC-15 rating (EN/IEC 60947-5-1) covers switching of electromagnetic loads above 72 VA — the typical contactor coil or solenoid valve in a panel. DC-13 covers switching of electromagnets with series resistors, common in DC control circuits. The 5 NO pole configuration gives you five independent contact sets, all normally open, so it fits applications where you need multiple isolated control signals closed simultaneously on coil pickup. Rated operational voltage is specified at 10 MΩ — that's the insulation resistance between live parts and earth, not a working voltage. The actual switching capability goes up to 690 V per the product description, which covers most 400/480 V control circuits in industrial environments.
Snap-in terminals mean the relay clips directly onto a DIN rail — no screws for the base mount, which speeds panel assembly. The 45 mm width and 93 mm depth fit standard enclosure layouts; height is 107 mm. IP2X on the front face (VDE 0106) means finger-safe from the front, but the rear and sides are open to the panel environment, so clearance to live busbars is on the integrator. Storage range is -60 to 80 °C. Altitude rating up to 3000 m covers most installations without derating. The TH protective treatment per IEC 60068 means it's tested for tropical humid environments — condensation-prone cabinets are fine.
The relay carries approvals under EN/IEC 60947-5-1, UL 60947-5-1, CSA C22.2 No 60947-5-1, GB/T 14048.5, and JIS C8201-5-1. That covers the major industrial markets: Europe (IEC/EN), North America (UL/CSA), China (GB/T), and Japan (JIS). For compliance documentation packages (RoHS, REACH, CE declaration), the manufacturer provides these per the standard product documentation set.
