The CAD50ASL is a TeSys Deca control relay from Schneider Electric, built for switching loads in control circuits. It carries five normally open (5 NO) pole contacts and a 72 V DC low-consumption coil, rated for operational voltages up to 690 V. The utilisation categories — AC-15, AC-14, and DC-13 — define its switching capability: AC-15 covers solenoid and electromagnetic loads above 72 VA, AC-14 handles smaller solenoids below 72 VA, and DC-13 applies to electromagnets with parallel diodes. This means the relay is suited for PLC output isolation, contactor coil switching, and general signal-level control in panels where the coil draw stays within the DC-13 curve.
The front face carries an IP2X degree of protection per VDE 0106, meaning it resists finger contact — adequate for enclosed panel mounting but not for exposed or washdown zones. Operating temperature spans -40 to 60 °C, with derating required above 60 °C up to 70 °C; storage range is -60 to 80 °C. Altitude tolerance goes to 3000 m without derating, which covers most control cabinets outside high-altitude installations.
Mechanical robustness for the panel
The relay is rated for shock and vibration per IEC 60068-2-27 and IEC 60068-2-6. It withstands 10 Gn for 11 ms in the open position and 15 Gn for 11 ms closed, with vibration resistance of 2 Gn (5–300 Hz) open and 4 Gn closed. This makes it suitable for mounting on panels near moderate industrial vibration sources like contactors or small motors, though it is not rated for direct machine mounting on high-vibration equipment.
