Switch disconnector for high-current distribution
The Schneider Electric ENW24222 is a fixed-mount switch disconnector from the EasyPact NW range, rated for 1000 A in AC-23A duty at 690 V AC. That utilisation category covers switching of motor loads and other highly inductive circuits — the 1000 A figure is the operational current under those conditions, not a resistive-only rating. It carries a 66 kA short-time withstand (Icw) for 1 s and a 143 kA making capacity (Icm), so it can close onto a fault without welding contacts. Suitability for isolation per IEC 60947-3 is confirmed, meaning it provides a visible break and meets the clearance/creepage for a safety disconnect.
Ratings that govern the application
Rated insulation voltage (Ui) is 1000 V AC, and the impulse withstand (Uimp) is 12 kV — this switch can live in a 690 V panel and survive transient overvoltages typical of industrial distribution without tracking. Electrical durability under AC-23A is 6,000 cycles at 440 V and 4,000 cycles at 690 V — the switch is built for occasional load-break duty, not frequent motor starting. For higher cycle counts, a contactor-based solution would be appropriate.
Fixed-mount on a base plate. Dimensions are 537 mm wide × 352 mm high × 297 mm deep — that's a substantial footprint; verify panel door cutout and swing clearance before layout. Rear connection with horizontal or vertical orientation. Neutral position is left. The 4-pole configuration (3 phases + switched neutral) is common for distribution boards where the neutral must be isolated.
