What the 2500 A AC-23A rating means for your line
The ENW24274 is a Schneider Electric EasyPact NW switch disconnector rated for 2500 A in AC-23A duty at 690 V AC. AC-23A covers switching of motor loads and other highly inductive loads — this isn't a general-purpose disconnect for resistive heaters; it's sized for the inrush and breaking demands of large motors, transformers, or capacitor banks on a distribution feeder. The 4-pole configuration (right-side neutral) suits it for three-phase plus neutral distribution in panelboards or switchboards where you need a single disconnect point for the entire circuit.
Withstand and making capacity — selectivity headroom
Rated short-time withstand (Icw) is 50 kA for 1 second, or 25 kA for 3 seconds. That's the current the switch can carry without damage during a fault downstream while upstream protective devices clear. The rated short-circuit making capacity (Icm) is 105 kA peak — meaning it can close onto an existing fault without welding contacts. For a site electrical engineer coordinating selectivity, these numbers tell you the switch can sit behind a 50 kA-rated feeder breaker and still maintain coordination downstream.
Fixed mounting on a base plate — no DIN rail for a switch this size. Dimensions are 537 mm wide by 352 mm high by 297 mm deep. Rear connection with vertical or horizontal orientation; connection pitch is 115 mm without spreader. IP40 protection means it's suitable for indoor panel installation where tools are required to access live parts. The isolation suitability per IEC 60947-3 means it provides visible-break isolation — the contact position indicator confirms open/closed status without needing to remove covers.
