4000 A switch disconnector for distribution
The Schneider Electric ENW24276 is a fixed-mount switch disconnector from the EasyPact NW range, rated for 4000 A in AC-23A duty at 690 V AC. That AC-23A utilisation category means it handles switching of mixed loads including motors, resistive, and slightly inductive circuits — the heaviest standard duty for a switch disconnector under IEC 60947-3. With a rated short-time withstand of 55 kA for 1 second and a making capacity of 121 kA peak, this part is sized for main incoming or bus-tie positions where fault levels are high and isolation integrity is non-negotiable.
That tells you this switch can survive a fault current long enough for an upstream breaker to clear — critical for selective coordination in a distribution board. The 12 kV impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) confirms it meets the clearance and creepage requirements for 1000 V insulation systems. Pollution degree 4 per IEC 60664-1 means the part is rated for harsh environments with conductive dust or heavy condensation — not a clean-room switch. Electrical endurance under AC-23A is 5,000 cycles at 440 V and 2,500 cycles at 690 V. That is typical for a high-current switch disconnector — this is not a daily-operate device; it is a service-disconnect or infrequent-switching position. The IP40 enclosure keeps tools and fingers out but is not washdown-rated; install in a cabinet or switchboard.
Fixed mounting on a base plate, rear connection, 4 poles with neutral on the right. The 537 mm width and 352 mm height mean it needs a generous cutout and busbar clearance — plan for at least 600 mm wide enclosure space. Connection pitch is 115 mm without spreader, so busbar drilling matches that centre distance. Horizontal or vertical connection orientation is acceptable, but rear-access only: the panel backplate must have clearance for the connection studs.
