The thermal-magnetic trip provides overload protection (thermal element) and short-circuit protection (magnetic element), plus integrated earth-leakage protection, all in one device. Breaking capacity is the critical figure for fault-withstand capability: 20 kA Icu at 440 V AC 50/60 Hz per IEC 60947-2. At 380–415 V AC the rating rises to 25 kA Icu, and at 220–240 V AC to 85 kA Icu — the higher the voltage, the harder it is to quench the arc, so the lower the interrupting rating. For selectivity (discrimination) you would need a Category B breaker with a short-time delay. The EZCV250N4080 is suited for distribution as a main or branch breaker where coordination is handled upstream or by a separate selectivity study.
Deployment context
Mounts fixed to a backplate (not DIN-rail) with front-connect terminals on both line and load sides. The 35 mm connection pitch matches standard busbar systems and panel-mounting patterns. IP20 finger-safe protection is sufficient for enclosed panel installation; the IK07 impact rating means the enclosure withstands a 2 J hammer blow — adequate for industrial cabinet environments where accidental tool strikes occur.
It also complies with GB/T 14048.2 (Chinese national standard) and JIS C8201-2-2 (Japanese industrial standard). The suitability-for-isolation marking (IEC 60947-2) confirms it can be used as a disconnecting means with a visible open gap.
