40 mm planetary, 25:1 reduction, 18 N.m continuous
The GBX0400250401D is a 40 mm-diameter planetary gearbox with straight-cut teeth and a 25:1 reduction ratio. It delivers 18 N.m continuous output torque and peaks at 29 N.m maximum, with 94 % efficiency across the operating band. Rated service life is 30,000 hours at 100 rpm and 30 °C ambient — the lubrication is sealed for life, so no maintenance interval on the oil change. The black anodized aluminium housing carries an IP54 rating at the shaft output, which means it resists dust ingress and splashing water in the coupling area but is not submersible.
Load ratings and mechanical limits
Maximum axial force on the output shaft is 200 N at 100 rpm for a 10,000-hour life, derating to 160 N for the full 30,000-hour target. Radial force follows the same profile — 200 N at mid-shaft for 10,000 hours, 160 N for 30,000 hours. Torsional rigidity is 1.1 N.m/arcmin, and the maximum backlash is 35 arcmin — this is a commercial-grade positioning gearbox, not a zero-backlash precision stage. The moment of inertia reflected to the input is 0.019 g.cm², which is low enough that a small servo or stepper can accelerate the load without a large torque penalty. Mounting position is unrestricted — the gearbox can be installed in any orientation. The C 45 steel output shaft is standard for this torque class.
Obsolete — sourcing through independent channels
Schneider Electric has marked the GBX0400250401D as obsolete. Available through independent surplus and broker channels — quantities are lot-specific and confirmed at RFQ. No pin-compatible direct replacement exists from Schneider; a functional equivalent would require verifying the mounting flange, shaft diameter, and input interface against the application.
