Commissioning fit — torque, ratio, and backlash for the axis
The GBX0600031002F is a 60 mm-diameter planetary gearbox with straight teeth, a 3:1 reduction ratio, and 28 N.m continuous output torque at 100 rpm. Maximum output torque reaches 45 N.m at the same speed, so the margin above continuous duty covers acceleration peaks and short-duration overloads without exceeding the 30000-hour service life target. Maximum torsional backlash is 16 arc.min — this is the total angular play under reversing loads. For positioning axes that index in one direction, the effective backlash is lower; for bidirectional positioning, budget the full 16 arc.min into the system accuracy calculation.
Sourcing reality — obsolete, quoted to order
Schneider Electric lists this gearbox as obsolete. The part is sourced through independent surplus and broker channels; quantities are lot-specific and confirmed at RFQ. The 60 mm frame size and 3:1 ratio narrow the field of drop-in replacements — a functional equivalent from another manufacturer will need to match the output shaft dimensions, mounting flange pattern, and the 28 N.m continuous torque at the same input speed.
Mechanical limits that govern the install
Rated radial force at mid-shaft is 340 N for the full 30000-hour life at 100 rpm, or 500 N if the application accepts a 10000-hour service life. Axial force limits are 450 N for 30000 hours and 600 N for 10000 hours. These are the bearing-life boundaries — overshoot them and the gearbox wears out before the commissioning spares plan expects. Shaft output sealing is IP54, which means the output end is protected against dust ingress and splashing water — suitable for a dry indoor machine environment but not washdown. The housing is black anodized aluminium; the shaft is C45 steel. The gearbox is lubricated for life, so no maintenance oil changes are needed over the 30000-hour service interval at rated load.
