Planetary gearbox, 60 mm frame, 4:1 reduction
The GBX0600040582D is a straight-tooth planetary gearbox in a 60 mm diameter black anodized aluminium housing, with a C45 steel output shaft. Rated service life is 30000 h at 100 rpm at 30 °C ambient, lubricated for life — no maintenance interval for grease changes, which simplifies the BOM for a sealed-for-life assembly.
Torque, backlash, and load capacity
Continuous output torque of 38 N.m is the rating to size against for a constant-speed or cyclic load; the 61 N.m maximum covers acceleration peaks and emergency stops. Torsional rigidity is 2.3 N.m/arcmin — the stiffness matters when the gearbox sits between a servo motor and a ball screw, where windup at the coupling translates into positioning error. Maximum torsional backlash is 20 arcmin, which is a standard-precision grade for this frame size — adequate for general indexing and conveyor positioning but not for a zero-backlash cam-indexing table. Axial force capacity is 450 N at 100 rpm for the full 30000 h service life, or 600 N for a 10000 h duty cycle; radial force at mid-shaft is 340 N (30000 h) or 500 N (10000 h). Moment of inertia is 0.093 g·cm² reflected to the input — low enough that a small servo can accelerate the gearbox without consuming a large fraction of its torque budget in rotor inertia.
Mounting position is any orientation, and the IP54 rating at the shaft output means it tolerates dust and splash in a typical cabinet environment but is not washdown-rated.
