Planetary gearbox for precision motion – 5:1 reduction, 40 N.m continuous
The Schneider Electric GBX0600050701F is a planetary gearbox with straight teeth, 60 mm external diameter, and a 5:1 reduction ratio. It delivers 40 N.m continuous output torque at 100 rpm and 30 °C, with a maximum of 64 N.m under the same conditions. Torsional backlash is 16 arcmin maximum, and torsional rigidity is 2.3 N.m/arcmin – these numbers define the positioning repeatability and stiffness for indexing or pick-and-place axes where lost motion matters.
Load ratings and service life – sizing for the duty cycle
Rated service life is 30,000 hours at 100 rpm and 30 °C – a 3.4-year continuous run at that speed. The gearbox is lubricated for life, so no oil-change interval to schedule. Maximum axial force Fa is 450 N and maximum radial force Fr is 340 N for the 30,000-hour life at 100 rpm and 30 °C. For a 10,000-hour life, those limits rise to 600 N axial and 500 N radial – useful when the application has occasional overload events. Efficiency is 96 % – most of the input power reaches the output shaft, keeping the thermal rise low in a sealed aluminium housing.
Environmental fit – IP54, wide temperature range, any position
Shaft output is IP54 – protected against dust ingress and splashing water. The housing is black anodized aluminium, and the shaft is C45 steel. Noise level at 1 m, no-load, is 58 dB – quiet enough for a lab or cleanroom environment without an acoustic enclosure.
