Planetary gearbox, 60 mm frame, 32:1 ratio
The GBX0600320583D is a straight-tooth planetary gearbox from Schneider Electric's GBX series, with a 60 mm outer diameter and 32:1 reduction ratio. It delivers 44 N.m continuous output torque and peaks at 70 N.m maximum — the continuous figure is the one to size your application against, not the peak. Torsional rigidity is 2.5 N.m/arcmin, which means the shaft twist under load stays predictable — important when positioning repeatability matters more than raw torque. Backlash is rated at 25 arcmin maximum, a standard commercial grade for this frame size.
Service life and load limits at 100 rpm
Rated service life is 30,000 hours at 100 rpm and 30 °C ambient. At that speed the maximum axial force on the output shaft is 450 N, and the maximum radial force (applied mid-shaft) is 340 N. Push it to 600 N axial or 500 N radial and the life drops to 10,000 hours — the trade-off is explicit in the ratings. Mounting position is unrestricted, which simplifies layout in tight panels or vertical-axis builds.
Construction and sealing
Housing is black anodized aluminium; the shaft is C45 steel. Shaft output sealing is IP54 — suitable for dry indoor environments but not washdown. The 94 % efficiency and 58 dB noise level at 1 m (no-load) mean it runs cool and quiet enough for close-coupled servo applications in lab or light industrial settings.
