12:1 planetary, 80 mm frame – torque and duty
The GBX0800121402F is a straight-tooth planetary gearbox in the 80 mm diameter frame with a 12:1 reduction ratio. Continuous output torque is rated 120 N·m (1062 lbf·in) at 100 rpm and 30 °C; maximum output torque reaches 192 N·m (1699 lbf·in) under the same conditions. That 94 % efficiency means about 6 % of the input power is lost as heat inside the housing. For a motor delivering 1.3 kW at the input, roughly 80 W stays in the gearbox – the black anodized aluminium body acts as the heat sink, so a forced-air draft or a larger frame may be needed if the duty cycle keeps the oil temperature above the 90 °C ambient ceiling.
Life rating and load limits – 30 000 h at rated torque
Service life is listed as 30 000 hours at 100 rpm and 30 °C ambient, running at the 120 N·m continuous torque. The axial force (Fa) limit is 900 N for the 30 000 h target, or 1200 N if you accept a 10 000 h life. Radial force (Fr) at mid-shaft is 650 N for 30 000 h, 950 N for 10 000 h. The gearbox is lubricated for life – there is no fill plug or drain, so the sealed grease charge must last the full service interval. If the application imposes shock loads or reversing duty, the 14 arcmin maximum torsional backlash and 6.5 N·m/arcmin torsional rigidity give you the numbers to check positioning error before the axis is built.
Obsolete – sourcing through independent channels
Schneider Electric lists the GBX0800121402F as obsolete. The gearbox is available through independent surplus and broker channels – quantities are lot-specific and confirmed at RFQ. For a BOM that already qualifies this frame size (80 mm diameter, 12:1 ratio, 120 N·m continuous), the straight-tooth planetary construction and C45 shaft material are the parameters to match against an alternative. The IP54 shaft output seal and black anodized aluminium housing are the environmental boundaries.
