Torque ratings that govern the load match
Continuous output torque is 120 N.m — this is the sustained load the gearbox can carry without exceeding the thermal and mechanical limits of the 80 mm black anodised aluminium housing. Maximum output torque is 192 N.m — the peak transient the gearbox can handle before the C 45 steel shaft or straight-tooth planetary set yields. The 16:1 reduction ratio transforms input speed to output torque by that factor, so the motor-side torque requirement is 120/16 = 7.5 N.m continuous.
Service life and load derating — the endurance envelope
Rated service life is 30,000 hours at 100 rpm output speed at 30 °C ambient. The axial and radial force ratings derate with service life: maximum axial force Fa is 1200 N at 100 rpm for 10,000 hours, dropping to 900 N for the full 30,000-hour target. Maximum radial force Fr at mid-shaft is 950 N for 10,000 hours, 650 N for 30,000 hours. The gearbox is lubricated for life — no maintenance interval for grease changes. Efficiency, noise, and backlash — the precision and thermal budget
94 % efficiency means 6 % of the transmitted power is lost as heat inside the housing. For a 120 N.m continuous load at 100 rpm (1.26 kW output), the heat dissipation is about 80 W — the black anodised aluminium body and IP54 shaft seal handle this within the -25 to 90 °C operating range. Noise level is 60 dB at 1 m, no-load — the straight-tooth planetary set generates this acoustic signature. Maximum torsional backlash is 17 arc.min, which sets the positioning repeatability floor for the driven axis.
