Planetary gearbox, 80 mm frame, 20:1 reduction
The GBX0800201001F is a straight-tooth planetary gearbox from Schneider Electric's GBX series, with an 80 mm housing diameter and a 20:1 reduction ratio. Rated for 120 N.m continuous output torque at 100 rpm and 30 °C, it peaks at 192 N.m for short-duration loads — the continuous figure governs the duty cycle for most positioning and indexing applications. Maximum torsional backlash is 14 arcmin, which sets the repeatability floor for the downstream mechanism; if the application needs tighter positioning, a lower-backlash gearbox is needed.
Torque, life, and environmental limits
Service life is 30,000 hours at 100 rpm and 30 °C ambient, lubricated for life — no maintenance interval for grease changes. Rated efficiency is 94 %, so about 6 % of the input power is lost as heat inside the gearbox; at 120 N.m output the thermal rise stays within the -25 to 90 °C operating range. Shaft output is IP54 — suitable for dry indoor environments with light dust and splash, but not washdown or outdoor exposure. Maximum axial force on the output shaft is 1200 N for a 10,000-hour life, derated to 900 N for the full 30,000-hour service life; radial force at mid-shaft is 950 N for 10,000 hours and 650 N for 30,000 hours.
